Gabriele Klose simply couldn't let the hunter kill the wild boar running around her flower store. Not after it looked up at her with big, innocent eyes.[/b]

I've looked into the eyes of a lot of wild hogs, and I can't say I've ever seen anything remotely "big" or "inocent" in any of them.

Did I read this right?

In October, when hunters shot a tusker in a cornfield south of Berlin, the wounded animal counterattacked, killing one man and injuring another who'd come to finish it off.

That’s a badass hog. How can anyone really get killed by a hog? I guess if it cuts your artery in your leg and you cant get to the hospital in time you’re dead, but ?

Instead, the boar put his head in Mr. Gericke's lap. "It was as if he was saying, 'Thank you,'" Mr. Gericke says.

This guy should drink the Coolaid right now.......or lay off the Magic mushrooms.

A pissed off hog can knock you off your feet with ease. Once youre on the ground the hog has it's choice of places to gore you. They're smart too, more than likely going for the neck or face. Same with dogs, most vicious attacks are aimed at the neck and head.

Pigs are like cottonmouth snakes and bears, they all seem to enjoy paybacks. We ran into a few boars one night in the dark at FHL. It was one of the fastest times I have for ascending up a tree.

"Mr. Eggert, the hunter, thinks it's time Berlin's authorities got tough. He says: "We should just gather hunters at the these feeding sites, make the civilians stand aside, and feed the swine with lead."

I like that thought . . .

No nonsense from that guy.

Here a video on a German news site. They say the estimated population of wild hogs is 5000. Berlin has very urban areas but also areas that are forested with many parks etc. If you forward to 1:58 you can see the German police take a nice hog with a sub machine gun. That thing gets blasted by 6 (?) shots and I'd say the first two are fully auto.

By the way, the best way to rid an area of hogs is trapping. I have read a lot about it and if you do it right, you can catch entire groups all at once, so they can't "wise up" on you and leave under hunting or trapping pressure.

If you look at those hogs in the video, those are the "Eurasian" boars. Quite a bit different from the Tejon hogs.

Here in the US there is a lot of people claiming that they have hunted "Eurasian" boars - usually if they have no white spots, it counts.

Ive had lots of landowners ask me how to get rid of pigs...I tell them the only solution is to fence their property...

maybe they should just build a Berlin Wall?

A 10'x10' corral, built right, with a one way gate. Put a little bait in the middle, and you'll have quite a herd, before you know it.

They won't know they are getting trapped until the whole herd is in there and the food is gone. I would love to build a contraption like that some day.

EvBouret,

I read in one of your recent messages that you have moved to O'ahu, well, maybe I can help you? I have most of the O'ahu Hunting Area boundaries in Google Earth (klm) files if you want them? I will attach them to an email reply. The entrance to one of the areas seems to be blocked by houses with a no parking sign.

Richard
