jack placement on cam

Just a tip for some of the new guys. I could not find a suitable position for the jack to go into my cam (I am using the owl AF), so I drilled a small hole into the tri-pod hole on the bottom of the cam and used the RS #274-249 trhee-conductor 1/8" (3.5mm) Phone jack. One problem I had, when I drilled the hole for the wires, it melted the plastic on the inside where the film goes. I then had to whittle out enough plastic to get the film cannister to properly fit.

The wires are soldered to pins 1, 2, and 4 and I ran them behind the circuit board. Be careful if you do this because there are two boards that have to be moved at the same time and they are connected by the pins. Don't pry to much or you will damage the pins.

I went this route because I could not find a place big enough for the other jack and I can push the remaing wires back into the cam until the jack is flush and the secure it with silicone.

Just my 2cents worth.
