This just came in. I sent one of the guys from our office down to Jack Ranch to get his son his first hog. I told him that I had heard good things about the guy hear on the forum. He booked the hunt and in there first evening his son was able to take a 225 lb hog with a 25-06. One shot one kill. They are back at it again today and I will let you know how it goes.

That spotted one looks like a sow, and in the sweet spot for size as a good meat pig. I bet it'll be tasty!

Congratulations!! Son's is a beast, dad might have gotten a surprise upon gutting that one - looks like a preggo or wet sow. That Howa is nice, I have the 1500 in 30.06.

Last time I spoke with Frank (6 mo ago), he was very busy as he'd gotten some kind of coverage in a national hunting media) so you may need to get some lead time on scheduling a hunt.

You can also search this forum for "Jack Ranch" and should find several threads/stories about hunting there. There should be reviews in the JHO forum on Guides as well.

IF you want an annotated list of hog guides focussed mainly on S. Cal, send me a PM with your email and I'll email it to you. It is too big to put in a PM.

I turns out the kids hog was smaller than his dads. The spotted pig went 250 and the other 225. The kids was a boar and the dads was a dry Sow. The ranch they hunted on is a new ranch that has neer been hunted in years. This ranch is between Paso Robles and Hearst Castle. They saw tons of pigs and were very selective on which pigs they shot. They were the first two to hunt this ranch. Frank and his guides have just started scouting it and they say there are some absolute mosters on the new ranch they have aquired.
