Need some help!

I'm thinking of putting in for Javalina with my dad and son for next year. What areas would be good for draw success as well as hunter success. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks, Mel

Mel,

You should also look at Arizona Game and Fish web site.  They have an area that you can click on a zone and it will give you big game info.  Two years ago I hunted Kaibab for archery deer  and turkey.  Later in the year we actually found an area we could buy javelina tags over the counter for.  Went back with our bows and tried for deer and javelina.  We did not get a deer, but the second evening we found a herd ( 20+) of the little pigs and scored on two. VERY GOOD EATING!!!  This was in the extreme southern part of the state.

e-mail me and will give you a few suggestions. That is my favorite hunt of the year. I've been lucky enough to kill 3 in the last 5 years. Deer season is open at the same time and it is the rut. Tags over the counter.

Thanks for the help guys.

What areas did you hunt and are they hard to draw for. It looks like area 37A has the most available tags (700), this will probably be the area we put in for unless you folks have some other suggestions. At the Javelinahunter.com web they have a package you can purchase that's basicaly a pre-scout information package. They tell yu where to go and where the pigs will hopefully be. Since i've never hunterd there before I may look into this.

Thanks, Mel

Mel,
You might try area'24A West" I can't remember the Hunt # if you can get drawn. We've always had luck there, we've taken 3-4 pig per 7 hunters most years. this area is west of Roosavelt Lake. Try staying in the draws early and late in the day.
