JHO May Photo Contest, Silhouettes

Congrats to last month's winner tpetty. He has chosen the topic of Silhouettes for May's photo contest.
Any silhouette photo(s) is legal. Buildings, barns, fence posts, plants, flowers, trees, wildlife, mountain ranges, people, etc. Feel free to give some details about your photo and how you photographed it.
This contest will run until Wed, May 31, 2006. At the end of this period we will vote and the winner will be awarded prizes from Jesse.

This is kind of a hard topic, but here is my entry for silhouettes. This is a picture of my daughter standing behind the couch in the window seal looking out the front window. I was in the kitchen and grabbed my camera to get a picture of her without her knowing. When I took the shot, I didn't realize I had it set for black and white - I'm glad I did. To edit the picture, I cropped the original picture and sharpened her features.

This is my last entry. I took this picture last year during our second cutting of orchard grass. I wanted the tractor and bailer to show up against the cloud formations and the sky. I edited this picture by cropping, dodging, sharpening and burning. I think it turned out nice.

OK, so I can't edit my original post so I'll put my 3rd shot here....

Sunset at Mt Helix, La Mesa California....

This is one of 2 Crosses in San Diego that have come under fire in recent years for being on "public" land. Mt. Helix was deeded to a private organization and the Cross still stands to this day. The other Cross is Mt. Soledad. The recent ruling by the courts says this Cross must come down, but there are several appealing to Mr. Bush to take the land as part of immenent domain to keep the War Memorial in tact. Zach, the cross is beautiful and a sobering commentary. This country has kicked God out of the courthouse, then out of the classroom, now off public land. When will we learn?
