I think this would be the 4rth or 5th New Years hunt at FHL. Hogs, bobcats, coyotes, quail, wabbits, ducks. It's all good. 4 days of merryment in the oaks at the Fort.

Westy and me are gearing up. He wants to freeze our butts off in the campground in his new trailer.

Who's in?

What's the cost of this awesome trip? Huntingbret if you have a permit already the cost is gas and food. FHL is public land. If i remember the annual permit is 70$ and a weekend pass is 25$. Check the web site that spectr17 has in his post to make sure of the cost.

Jesse-

NoCal speak........

The First Annual Grizzly Fo' Shizzly, AKA Spoonies in the Boonies, is happening on Jan. 3rd. It's a few of us from the site meeting for a day's duck dropping at Grizzly Island. I suggested the name, Speck hates it, and so we have the alternate name. So far it's me and I think DB183. Should be a great hunt with all the weather. Best of luck to you guys down at FHL!!!!!

Well i got the 2nd off so ill be there. Ill be there 27th & 28th im going to scout area 7 at the back fence all the way the Jolon road then back along the 10/13 boundery to see if there is any sign in the 10/13 area which will be open new years. I will also check out both sides of 29 for sign.

If nothing there ill check out 24 and 15 on new years.

I should be pulling in late afternoon on the 31st

Its been very dry (not even water on 29 the lake has been below the 29 boundery all summer) on the base so i think ill hit any area with ponds on it.

We got rooms reserved at billetting 12/31 till jan 3. We may pull the trailer and stay in the campground also. Not sure yet, we'd have to drag the thing over one of these mtn passes in the snow probably.

Deedee said she was full on cabins and pig hunts there. We can still go by and say hey Sat night maybe.

C ya there pops. We should be there sometime 12/31 right at dark hopefully.

If it works out I'll be in the back with the Jayco Jayflight camper white with red flames. Black chevy Silverado w/ camper shell.

Two suspects:

1) Weak battery
2) Bad starter or worn out starter solenoid contact.

Before you start taking parts off, try cleaning your battery connections.

So this is what I did. Got mot my multi meter checked voltage and got 10.6 volts
Started the truck and got 14.8.
Right there it told me the battery was on its down side. The battery is a Delco Freedom 78 which also have a hydrometer green+ being good-black being low and recharge.
Anyways I was able to get it started and drove to kraegans and let them do a load test. The findings was the battery failed under load. So now I have excuse to pick up a optima battery from Costco and make the trip to Leggitt next week.
If my grammer is bad its because most locals speaks pigeon english and sometime it gets the best of me.

We'll be out there Friday after New Year. Xdhunter, 45 and some guys from Salinas will be out there too. Checking in at the billeting if it gets too cold. If not, stay at the camp ground.
