I went and looked and the search was not working on the web site, I can only tell you what I said before he showed it to me, and it was like Jesse said to much was left at him making the call, and i'll bet it was under fair chase, I even came home last year got on the putter and found it, now I don't remember where I looked other then it was on DFG site, that is one to hardest sites to use as far as i'm concerned.

Nathan

First off I don't hunt pigs anymore, they cost way to much to process, Hams & Bacon and I don't get real excited over it, my last Pig I shot was last year at my brothers place in OK.

Second if these poor ranchers are going broke with pig damage how many of them let hunters just knock on there door and give permission to hunt, name one i'll bet you can't without well I would like to but I have leased out the hunting rights $$$, or I charge $300 a day, let me tell you if they where eating me out of house and home and doing all that damage I would be feeding them 3 meals a day to hunt at my place, and i'm not saying that's wrong, charge what you want there will always be someone in CA. to pay it, lets face it what are the hunts at Tejon about $$$ and if you have to shoot a dry sow or a boar the take will go down and less people will be doing the POR.

Third you say the animals on the land belong to the owner WRONG they belong to everyone unless you could prove to me that all stock where put and bred there only NEVER to have been on another property or public land.

I have been around the block at least once, and remember when CA. hunters got a undiserved rap out of state as being slob hunters, but now I think it fits ethics and respect are no longer it's i'm here to kill mine get out of my way, that's not all hunters but the % has gotten higher, hunting in this country is on a deadend street, and where to blame as hunters and shared by greed of many a F&G dept, i'm just glad to say I was able to hunt in the good old days.

Now get out of my way so I can shoot

Go back and read what I said. You misquoted me. I said the land belong to the landowners who has the right to manage it as they see fit. If that means buying five pig tags at a time and killling every last pig on the place then that's what it means.

You are correct is stating the animals belongs to the people.

I'm exhausted.

I have always passed on "obviously" wet sows. I always let does with fawns walk right by. I always let does with yearlings walk right by.

Many times I've seen a train of pigs that look like stair steps. 200 lbers in front, then 100 lbers, then 40 lbers, then 20 lbers, and then 5 lbers bringing up the rear. I would put my cross hairs on one of those 200 lbers any day, if it was a clean shot. From what I have been told, and from what I have read in several articles, sows will immediately adopt piglets. I would not have any remorse had that 200 lb. sow been wet.

This past May, I had a 200+ sow in my scope. Just as I was about to pull the trigger, four piglets, babies, came into view as they were hanging off her belly. I hadn't noticed earlier as the grass was about 12 inches tall. My crosshairs moved over to the dry 150 lb. sow, and it was all over. I felt good about that.

Whether the pigs we hunt are BG or not, I have grown to respect them, like I do deer. I really enjoy hunting them.

What bugs me is what I hear from some people that bowhunt for hogs. It seems like at least half of the pigs hit by an arrow are never recovered. I bowhunt, and I want to kill a pig in the worst way with my bow. However, the stories I've heard have made me a little, uh, bow-shy. I'm sure there are many archers out there that have recovered all of their hogs. And, I'd like to hear those stories. Just relaying what I've heard from a few people.

Done.

Onetrack,
How the heck are you? I've gotten better on the harp and I will bring it to the next JHP POR for entertainment.

I shot a 310lb bore a while back with a 100gr muzzy and it only ran about 40 yards. It was a lung shot and passed through with ease (bow wt. @ 68lbs). Awsome blood trail from the impact spot. I think if you are w/in 30 yards and shoot pretty good, the shot is as good as a rifle. Go for it!!!

Onetrack,

I have killed many pigs with a bow. Like pitdog said, if you can get within 30 yards and place the arrow where you want it, it is all over. Most of my pigs (from a 300+ boar to 70 pound juveniles) have died within a 100 yards. I have NEVER lost a pig with my bow!! But I also pick my shots and try to get as close as possible. One side item is that several times I have arrowed pigs in a group and the rest will not even act startled. Just kept on feeding!! Remember that your bow is totally capable of a humane kill, you just need to use it right. Mistakes happen, but they happen with a rifle too.
