I am new to the sight, but I thought I would show you guys some pics of a recent hunt. This Boar was taken with a weatherby .06. My recent hunt I used a remington .270 open sight ( no pics yet). I am waiting on the head mount of this boar in the pics. I have hunted Twisselmans 4 times this year. My most recent hunt was last weekend. We must have seen over a hundred Hogs over 4 days. They ranged from little guys to nice boars. The people there are great. Very reasonable. they just upped their rates to 500.00.

Anyway I am always looking for new places to hunt. I look forward to getting a lot of good information from you guys.

Congrats, Firemedic... and welcome to JHO! :cheers-yellow:

I've heard a lot of good things about Twisselmans. Hope you have a chance to post up your review in the Guide Review section of this forum. People really find that stuff useful.

Here is a report on hunting at twisselmans ranch.

So far I have hunted there 4 times. Each time I have had the oppurtunity to shoot at a pig. That being said I have only taken 2 pigs
<
. The ranch covers about 80,000 acres. The pigs are pretty nomadic, but all of the guides scout during the week. This last weekend there must have been over 75 pigs seen. I had my tag filled within 2 hours of being there. They mostly use a spot and stalk technique. However, there is plenty of seat of your pants driving when a big pig pops up unexpextedly. I have used the same two guides everytime. Tanner and Ethan are the youngest guides, but they will work their tails off for you. They are also great guys to hang out with. Their knowledge of pigs is amazing at their age (20 and 21). The rate is 500.00 for 3 days of hunting. This includes lodging and transportation around the ranch. They also have some great coyote and varmit to sharpen your skills

!

For you Bow hunters. They do guide bow hunts also. However, I can tell you from experience this is much different. They use spot and stalk, but they also will walk canyons and try to find them bedding down. The one time I bow hunted they put on a little ledge above where they had seen pigs moving out to feed. I saw plenty of them, just a bit too far away though. There have been plenty of people that have taken pigs with a bow there.

Well I hope this helps. I am in no way tied to this ranch, I just feel I should get the word out. They have treated my friends and I very well. Joel is the main guy. He recently combined with his brother. The new name is Carrissa Plains Exoctics.Any more questions just shout at me. I know I will be asking about other places myself, just to expand my horizon.

Call Joel @ (805) 459-0782. He is the owner of the propertya nd will set it up for you. Andrew is his brother and guides hunts as well (805) 610-3011.

Thanks for listening!!

Both of those guys are great. When we go up there we always request them. Two trips ago Ethan pulled rank on Tanner and sent him off with a another group. We will be back up there in early spring.
