"Kentucky Afield" TV deer processing episode has hunters, viewers hungry for more

Frankfort, Kentucky - Part II of "Deer Processing: Techniques from the Field to the Freezer" airs this weekend, Oct. 27 and 28, on "Kentucky Afield" television.

The 2007 white-tailed deer season is underway, calling hunters to the field and ultimately to the family dinner table. The program features butcher Sim Harp of Scott County with easy-to-follow deer processing tips. In Part II, the process moves into the kitchen for choice cuts of roasts, steaks, ribs, chops and more.

"We have been overwhelmed with response to this show," says Scott Moore, executive producer of "Kentucky Afield" television. "This is something that Kentucky sportsmen and women find extraordinarily helpful - a tool that lets them best utilize their harvest."

Viewers who missed Part I of show can order DVDs of both segments online at fw.ky.gov, the website of the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources.

"Kentucky Afield" is a production of the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources. It is the longest continuously-running outdoor television show in the nation. "Kentucky Afield" airs Saturday at 8:30 p.m. Eastern /7:30 p.m. Central and is repeated on Sunday at 4 p.m. Eastern/3 p.m. Central on KET 1.
