what up all. This newbie went out to laguna mountain again a few weeks ago to hunt in the rain. I read that the rain brings the hogs out, the soil is soft so the pigs can root up the dirt easier and that the pigs dont seem to even notice its raining. i also heard that the hogs hole up when its raining. anyone got an opinion on that? anyway, i didnt get my pig but i had a great rough time. I saw a quite a few rabits, deer and a huge herd of 50 plus elk up there. i couldnt believe it, i was prob 150 yards from the herd when i noticed the bulls that were following. I sat down and pulled out my cheep big five binocs to watch the bulls antler wrestle. First time i ever saw anything like that up close, it was awesome. The experience totally made the trip worth it. As for the hogs, maybe it was a little early in the season or the trees kept getting in the way or the wind was changing direction but i came up empty handed this time. I'll be out there again before christmas and this time i plan on going a little deeper into the canyon where i KNOW those hogs are hidin out.
