Headed up to Clear Lake for the holiday weekend and went to the ranch Saturday morning to kick around and see if anything was moving. Amazing how fast it's dried up over the last couple of weeks. I got there about 6 am and walked a loop along a ridge and then back thru the valley. Saw tons of deer and some recent rooting, though not much. At 7 I was in the valley and came around a corner to find a boar walking thru the grass in my direction. All I had to do was drop to a knee and wait 30 seconds for him to move closer and broadside before dropping him with my 30-06. Maybe a 50 yard shot tops. He went 160 on the hoof. Oh how nice it must be. You seem to have a pretty steady supply of pork!

A nice way to spend Memorial weekend. You are a lucky man to have private property to hunt in that area. Congratulations on a fine boar!!
