The quail at lake perris are around the campsites, but you can find some rabbits in the hunting area.

I've been out there the last two Saturdays looking for rabbits. A week ago there were a few guys out with dogs looking for quail, I didn't hear any shots between dawn and 10 or so when I left. This past Saturday I only saw one other hunter out there with a dog. He got 3-4 shots off down south near the pond thing/flooded area.

My parents has a house that's about 20min drive local and I've always wished this could be a huntable spot. I was there once in November or December and didn't see anything, not even scats. Does anyone know if we're allowed to go toward the lake direction, from the hunting ground. It seemed very barren, not even trees. Or perhaps I didn't hike far enough? I stayed away from the lake's direction, not sure if we can go near there.

Did you also just park your vehicle at the hunter's lodge and hiked the rest of the way by foot? Or is there a different entrance you can take to access hunting grounds? Any information would be appreciated. Went back several times and did not see anyone or any vehicles in the hunting area. Place seemed pretty deserted but I don't know why I keep going back hoping to get luck!

You can, off of Davis rd from Ramona express . All the way before the yellow gate park in the left. Take the trail west

Thanks Revo! Looked it up on Google Earth, there is a gate where it intersects between Martin and Davis, is that the entrance? If so, if I take the trail west, I would reach the east of of the Lake, I assume the along the trail is huntable until I reach sign that says no shooting beyond which would mean pretty much east of the lake is hunting ground?

Hey I saw you three out there. Nice dog you got. I went over to San Jacinto after and it was the same for me. I need a bird dog. I walked for miles and called all day without one response. Got two shots off at a bunny and missed cause I'm so rusty.

In the morning. As soon as we got there we heard the quail calling in the hills. So we started to hunt in there direction.

They were dead silent when I went by. I knew I should have gripped the hillside a bit more. Did you guys go back to the back and have a look at all the Chukar on that hillside? It was the most Chukar I have seen in years.

Which backside are you talking about? Did you guys enter from Davis rd. which might be San Jacinto wildlife area technically. Or did you guys park over at the hunting lodge?? I didn't think Perris would have Chukar either, but wow that's good to know lol

re:

I actually parked at the hunting lot and hiked all the way back to the far mountain boundary. The Chuk's were running up among the boulders towards San Jacinto area.
