Just a Quick reminder.
Only 15 days to go
<

Registration for Lake Sonoma hog hunts will begin on Nov 21 at 9:00 am at the visitor center. It will continue throughout the hunting season with the exceptions of Mondays and Tuesdays. Because you can not register before 9:00 on the first day you come, don’t plan on showing up early. Once you are issued your hunting sticker for your boat and the placard for your vehicle, you can self register each time you come out just like last year. That way you can be in the field by first light.
Remember to check in at the visitor center each time you come out. I will be very unhappy if I see a hunting sticker on boat and no record of that individual hunting that day!

I did get a question from a guy who wanted to know if he had to get a sticker for his kayak. The answer is YES. Put the sticker on any vessel that you will be using for hunting on the lake!
The reason is that the shoreline of the lake will be posted as off limits to all vessels that do not have: a hunting pass, are registered to camp, or are within shouting distance of their boats. (Other wise, it’s abandoned equipment and could be impounded)

This is kind of like nailing Al Capone for tax evasion. It’s a round about way to deal with poachers who are coming in by boat and not registering. It’s easier for us to find a boat on the shoreline than to hike up the hill to look for a camouflaged poacher who really doesn’t want to be found!

Finaly, Yes, deer stands are permited...Beer stands are not!

If you have any questions you can reach me at 707-431-4514 or the visitor center at 707-431-4533 (closed Mondays and Tuesdays)

Get ready only 15 days to go!

Hi Joel,

I live in so. Cal and I may only get to hunt this land you've opened up once or twice. However, I want to thank you for standing behind us hunters and helping to make this happen. With the way things are going in this state, any help we can get from those like yourself is more than appreciated. Now lets just hope those who are able to go up there act in an ethical manor and demonstrate the true meaning of being a hunter.

And EVERYONE please remember to pick up any trash you may come across while hunting.

Thanks again, Joel!

wow that place sounds awesome but I'm getting feed back that its only a 5% or less success rate, well thats way to low for my time and effort, maybe its being kept a secret? getting to your spot by boat should really limit the hunting.

Post up from opening week!! please

What, if any,are the limits on outboard motors for the boat? I've got an 8hp Nissan 2stroke, or a 2hp Honda 4stroke. Is it okay to use the 2stroke?

It looks like I will likely be unemployed in February, so I may get to try the shotgun season.

Thanks,

Jean

There is no limit on boat motors. 2 storkes are fine!
As a side note, the ranger patrol boat is two stroke and probably one of the worst offenders when it comes to smoke! If you want to know where I am, just look for the big blue cloud of smoke!
