My wife found this and sent it to me. Thought I'd share, as no one had it posted yet.

The Army Corps has been offering this Hunt for a while now. You can either register at the Visitor center or West Coast Archery in Petaluma. I registered last weekend and got 752. Ranger Joel usually posts up the Hunt dates and new information.

Anybody know if crossbows are allowed? (pardon to you die-hard bow hunters :)

Yes they are, here's my opinion. I have a crossbow, not a nice one but one that puts a bolt right where the red dot is like a laser beam. I am a pretty good shot with it. Having hunted there for pigs before, with that crossbow, and after having hunted deer there this year with a bow, I would not use a crossbow. I don't trust them, and unless you're going to hunt from a blind you are going to be doing some gnarly crawling through heavy brush. What I don't like is all that energy held in by a little pin or lever. Good luck with it anyways. I found a few spots up on the Yorty side where a ground blind would work really well, and I might use my crossbow there, but I will probably just use my compound.

I don't like crawling through brush, unless I'm following a good blood trail. That being said, you can, and will get shots at pigs here when you are standing straight up and out in the open. Very crossbow friendly. I got many chances like that last year. You also don't have to hump it over Hell and back. Find a well used area and spend time in it. Listen to what's going on. Be ready cuz they pop out suddenly, especially on the opener when they are being pushed around.
I don't mind other hunter traffic either. Many times I've seen pigs running through right after hunters had trod that very same trail, and the hunters were unaware.
Good luck all!

Well, I'm going tomorrow. Not sure where yet, I think I will bring my pop up blind and relax.

Hunted on Saturday. Expected a lot more hunters but it was surprisingly quiet. I went to Old Skaggs springs road past Bungie bridge. I hiked in about 2 miles, didn't see much hog sign. The Cloverdale side seems to hold a lot more hogs. I ran into another hunter at the Skaggs Springs Vista turnout. He said he saw a really fresh track but other than that nothing. I have this idea of building a floating hunting blind out of plastic barrels. We'll see.....

Went out there Friday to Saturday. Came back empty handed. At least no poison oak rash this time!

I camped at loggers last year. But I can't get away this year.
