Well a buddy and I decide to head to Lake Sonoma this upcoming weekend for a little pig hunt. Looking for opinions on the different boat in camps and site numbers. I understand that I need to make the reservations on the Reserve America Website before we head out.

Thanks in advance for advice.

I am not sure but I think only liberty glen campground is the only site that you have to make reservations for. since you are boating in Loggers and Rustlers are nice sites and puts you in the middle so your boat rides in the morning are not too long to your hunt areas. Good luck, I was at the Lake Saturday. Had I known there was a BattleFrog competition going on I would have brought my boat. 100's of people all over every trail of the lake.

I am sure yorty would have been like a ghost town compared to Liberty Glenn. I was hoping with all the competitors the pigs would be moving around, but no luck with that.

The pigs were still at Liberty, but they were moving around earlier and later than usual. My buddy's cams prove this. There was great sign at Zilla's and Lamb's Ear, which I hunted, but no luck.
The trails on the north side of Rockpile, across from the entrance to Liberty, had no people activity.

Thanks for the Info. Not sure of the locations of Zilla's or Lambs Ear. We were thinking of boating up Dry Creek Arm and lookin around the northern end of the lake. Hoping to find some good glassing point and let the glass do the work. Either way we will have a good time. I am starting to feel a little cabin fever since duck season ended.

Flytrue,
I hiked way down across the road from the Liberty entrance and ran into a few competitors on a trail down there. Thought I was far enough away but guess not. Was still an really nice day though.

I stayed at Loggers this weekend. I know of three pigs that were taken on that general arm of the lake, but sadly I did not see any to shoot at.

Quick run down of my first trip to the Lake.

Stayed (slept) at Loggers. Hiked 26.76 miles (Fitbit and GPS) in a day and a half. Found fresh sign on a god forsaken hillside Sunday morning that made me wish that I had brought my Crampons. Just ran out of time to put it all together. Saw 4 deer, 1 bobcat, 6 turkeys, 2 racoons, countless quail and pigeons, and 0 Pigs.

Observations -

1) What a beautiful area.
2) Steep, Steep, oh did I mention STEEP.
3) Need to spend more time on the Stair Master and Elliptical (already do a minimum of 60 minutes a day)
4) For all the boats on the water, I did not see another hunter or any fresh boot prints in the areas that I hunted.

Looking forward to trying to get at least one more trip in before the season ends at the Lake.
