Just got back from an all day hunt at lake sonoma, there's some wicked hills up there. It was my first trip to LS, plenty of sign, but managed to see only one pig....made my move to head'em off, but he gave me the slip 'round a hill. I didn't take a boat, but would recommend it to anyone planning on going there. Where is Cherry Creek located at there? Hunted mostly 'round RockPile Rd & close to liberty camp ground. I'm going back for more the 1st & 2nd if ya know of a better spot.
Anyone tried up by Yorty Creek?

Hey Arrowslinger, Welcome to JHO
I think that the Yorty Creek area may have more ground to cover on foot than Rockpile and maybe not as steep, it's accessed out of Cloverdale. If you look at the maps that Backcountry posted here, you can see it, I can't remember which road it is but it will tell you on the map. Look at the posts about the Lake Sonoma hog hunt alerts, it's like 4 pages worth of information. Cherry Creek can only be accessed by boat. No matter where you go it's going to be tough hiking, even from the boat. I'm heading up on the 10th through the 12th for my last try at these hogs. Good luck on your next trip, and again, welcome to the site!

Mel, thanks for the note & info.
I researched the other pages of sonoma and based my last hunt off what everyone said, very helpful & informative. Your right 'bout rockpile, not too much ground to cover. The hiking doesn't bother me too much, i'd rather work for one than have it roll over at my car.
Think i might score a boat for the next trip, but either way i'll give Yorty Creek a go.
Again, thanks for the info....this is a great site & glad i stumbled 'cross it.
