Lake Sonoma

Hey folks, i,m new to this site.GREAT forum. This is mine and my hunting partners first year of archery hunting, and what ayear it,s been. The hunting tag gods blessed us well. 2 Nevada Mule deer (both successful), 1 Nevada Pronghorn(successful), 1 Montana Elk (unsuccessful), and 2 Montana Whitetails (both unsuccessful) but what a blast! Anyway I'm from northern Nevada and we are scheduling to go on our first pig hunt next month (Jan.) in the Sonoma Lake area, and was just wondering if anybody had any last little tips that we may be able to use when we arrive there? Anyway, GREAT forum and thanx for any tips any of you that are familiar with that area that you might have for us.

I'm sure you a familiar with scent control. Just get high and glass stay down wind.

Is this a private property? guided? If it's guided, I'm sure you will get some shots.

Good luck and can't wait to hear about the hunt. I also just got into archery. Its been a blast. I'v ben hunting on another members propoerty, bigtusker. If you want to hunt in the south bay, around Hollister, just give chopper a call. Choppers Link

No, this will be on public land at the lake with no guide, just acouple of DIYers. I'm going to borrow a small boat from my brother in law to get around in. Any areas around the lake you might suggest trying first?

I would head up the lake to the north end. Once you go through the narrows anywhere through there will be worth trying. Lots of rooting can be seen from the lake in Yorty Creek.
