I messed up on my shot at an elk and my old man bumbped a tree and spooked off his 5x5 i called into him so we are going out for late season anyone else heading out i got property in kernville so we will be hunting alsea and stott mt does cow calling work this late or is it spot and stalk first year out archery hoping for a little info on the late season thanxs

By that time of year most of the elk have been harrassed so much any type of call will give up your position. This is only my opinion, but i live right in the middle of the area you are going to be hunting and that's what i have experiened over the years. Good luck...

i agree with OC. calling is pretty futile at that time of year. yes it can be done but youd better be talking the right words to them or theyll be out of there. stick to spot/stalk or ambush hunting. if there is snow on the ground you can also track them if you are adept at that.

Thanks guys ill be out this weekend scouting and also bear hunting i read the regs and it says i cant go during rifle elk but during deer i can kinda weird eh and O.C. where abouts do you live and have ya seen any elk

I live on the outskirts of Lincoln City. I see alot of elk throughout the year and spend alot of time watching them. You should be able to get into elk about anywhere you want to dive into the brush. Good luck and let us know how you do....
