Leica Offers Aquadura Hydrophobic Coating

11/2/07

Allendale, New Jersey — Leica is pleased to announce that its newly developed AquaDura™ hydrophobic lens coating meets the high demands of hunters, birdwatchers and outdoor enthusiasts around the world. This new coating, currently available on the new Ultravid HD binoculars and the coming new Televid 82 mm and 65 mm spotting scopes, provides significant performance enhancement in adverse weather conditions.

The AquaDura™lens coating allows water to run off of external lens surfaces. The coating keeps lenses cleaner as dust, dirt and oily fingerprint residues will no longer adhere to the lens surfaces. This new coating will prove ultra-useful in the field as it will allow the user to spend more time viewing the subject and less time wiping off and cleaning the optical lenses.

For over 158 years Leica has led the industry in producing the most innovative, highest performing optical instruments in the world. This tradition continues with the introduction of the new Ultravid HD binoculars and Televid spotting scopes with the AquaDura™ coating.

Headquartered in Germany, Leica has been an acknowledged leader in the optics industry for over 150 years. Throughout that time, the company has built a solid reputation for producing high quality, durable products due to their commitment to optical perfection and mechanical precision. Kinda sounds similar to the Bushnell Rainguard. I was wondering when some other companies would go down this road.
