There's no lions around there, they're an endangered specie remember...wow cool photo, and to think of some of the thick places I've been there:skeered:

Endangered my hat! We had a 100lbs dog taken out of a back yard (8 foot wall) by a lion last month.
Also- On a mountain bike ride I ran into some state folks who were tracking a lion that was working the area around and above a local park. Likely the same lion that took the dog.
The only endangered specie in CA is the hunter- one more reason we are leaving the state. :)

That's a big cat. I always get a little jumpy at the low light hours of the day when I'm out there alone, which is usually the case. I thought I saw one brush down a drainage in November but didn't stick around to double check...

Maybe it was just a hallucination in the corner of my eye.

I'll keep my eye out this weekend and next...maybe avoid hunting that particular area LOL.

damn...cats are always in the back of my mind when I hunt...

I was hunting alone a few months ago and swore one was following me around..I had circled around a spot and seen foot prints where none was there before...sort of freaked me out a bit...and it was a big cat paw too...maybe I was just missed the prints on my first pass but still...

Unfortunately we need many more close encounters for things to change.

Are you allowed to shoot that monster cat in self defense? Not that you would even see it first though. I know they are protected but that is a BIG CAT!!!
