Jesse, Yes that is a good price. I used one for years in our studio. Took pictures of food dishes for menues. All you need to do is buy foto correct light bulbs for your lighting. Hope that helps.

Great link on how to make your own tent. That guy has the right idea. You can use standard Tungsten lighting and adjust the "White Balance" with your camera. If your camera doesn't have a white balance adjustment, Phillips sells some "Natural" 100w light bulbs that look like they have a blueish cast but photograph perfectly. I think I will try setting a tent up and start selling things on ebay. My Grandmother passed away 4 years ago and her house is still full to the top of all sorts of Whisky decanters, knick knacks, antiques and lots of worthless junk. Maybe I can make a few dollars!

If you build your own, use a piece of white plexiglass for the bottom and back. Bend it with heat to make a nice curve. You'll need to build a frame for it to sit on. Then in addition to lighting it from the sides when you build the tent, you can light it from behind and under the plexi as well.

Here's another option I saw posted on Fred Miranda's site: http://www.pbase.com/wlhuber/light_box
