Ok, ling fishing this past weekend was great. Made the limit on cod and ling...... also lost alot of jiggs! Using skirted 4oz. Striper jig. My largest ling at 36" 12lb. So...... does anybody make their own bottom jig? If so.... what's it made from? We've donated nuts, bolts, slip wieghts ect. I'm thinking of using butter knife handles with a 6/0 single.

I've got a mold that I melt lead and make my own jigheads with. I can usually get lead from auto shops for cheap.

How do you lose your jigs, on the rocks? And what lb test line do you use?

When elevation changes on the floor the jig drags...gets caught tween rocks. Some times we just back the boat up and reverse the line pull. Still lose jigs to the floor structure though. I use a 40# braided on most trips.
