I am looking for a local (Riverside, San Bernardino) Gun Club that allow members access to shooting property. I work kinda weird hours and would like to shoot early in the mornings. I had heard about one in Riverside over by Lake Matthews but I can't find any info on the club. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks heaps!!!

There's the West End club. I think its up toward Lytle Creek off the 15. There's also one at Lake Wohlford. I think both of these just give members a gate key

West End Gun Club has 24/7 member access to the club property. You get a combination to the gate. This is property owned by the club, not leased from the USFS or BLM. The club is only a couple of miles up Sierra Avenue off I-15.

Karstic's right about West End. 7 day 24 hr access for members, on 65 acres. All for $120.00 a year.
The range your talking about in Riv. County is probably the "Corona Sportsmens Club". Get the number for "Dave's Guns" in Corona, he can give you information on membership.

I'm going to go to the Corona Sportsman Runing Deer Shoot on Saturday to check the place out. I went to the club meeting last Tuesday and met a great bunch of guys and gals. I'd also like to go check out West End maybe on Sunday. But I hear that they had a lot of damage from the floods. I will be joining one club or another but I am leaning towards Corona because of all the people that were very friendly and inviting.

Thanks for the heads up fellas!

Actually, I've belonged to both clubs (Corona &WEGC). Great people at both clubs.
I basically switched to WEGC because of the uncertanty of CSC. Since I joined in 1981 the Corona Club has been at 3 differant locations. Because of losing leases, and having to move on.
WEGC owns the 65 acreas their on, and are surrounded by National Forest, so no future housing tracts will be there to complain about the noise.
My step sons father belongs to Corona. The lucky kids get to shoot at West End with me, and Corona with their dad. From what they say, West End is about 10 times larger then Corona, since the Corona range only has one shooting line.
The West End Club range facilities include a 100 yard public firing line, trap and skeet range, 600 yard high power rifle range, small bore silhouette range, juniors range (rimfire), and shooting bays for Action Pistol, Cowboy Action Shooting, Three Gun, IDPA, Steel Challenge and more!. fri-sat-sun 8am-4pm. There's about 15 firing lines, plus shotgun ranges.
WEGC did fall victim to the San Bernardino fires, but all that damage was repaired. Then we were hit with record rains this year, so we've had to clean up some mudslide problems. At this point all the ranges are open except trap and skeet.
If you plan on coming out this weekend, check the website: http://www.wegc.org/annc/index.shtml for current range conditions.
Lytle Creek has to be crossed to get to the range (Peters Canyon). The water level fluctuates a lot this year because of the record rain and snow level.
Either way you go, both clubs are great clubs.

Banning sports men club????

I don't belong to it, but I heard that they have a trap range, target range, club house and so on, they do own it, it not a lease.
I don’t know the price, but I can find out for you.

Actually, you have to have 2 members or 1 board member sponsor you. But there's enough members here at JHO if you need sponsors. You also need to be a NRA member.
Once your membership is approved, you have to attend 1 range safety orientation at the club. Depending on how many members are at the orientation, it's usually 30-90minutes, then your free to head home or shoot.
Anyway, check out the differant clubs. If you decide on WEGC you can download a application from the website, and me and one of my sons (JHO names=EvanIII, Csbishop) will sponsor you.

Bishop and/or karstic... (or any WEGC member for that matter)

Would either of you be willing to meet me at the WEGC range sometime. Maybe on a Sunday morning and show me the place? I went to Corona today and met a few more folks. Really nice guys but kinda hard to get in and out of the place. I will be doing most of my shooting in the early mornings (Sunrise is my favorite time) and getting out and to work on time is important to me. I am seriously considering getting both memberships. Let me know.

Mothers day is this Sunday but I'd be open to meeting someone out there early!

Thanks heaps!

If the calendar wasn't full tomorrow I'd take you up on that offer. West End is having their Hi-power match this Sunday (up to 600 yds) various parts of the range will be closed to accommodate the shoot. You can call the match director and let him know you are interested in seeing the club.

I'm booked the next 3 weekends. But sounds like you want to use the club on weekdays before work?
I can meet you out there sometime this week early in the morning (except tomorrow-monday). You can either just take a look around, or do a little shooting if you want.

There is 3 clubs in the Lake Mathews area. There is the Maywood Gun Club, the Riv. co sheriffs snipers sometimes shoot there. Then, there is the RockPile a little further down the road. The CPC used to shoot at the RockPile. And like Bishop said, the CPC now have their range in the Gavilan Springs area.

Tinner, yes there is. In the same areas that I spoke of. Right on the other side of the Maywood gun club is a turnout that takes you into BLM land. Or, you can go into Gavilan Springs and shoot most any place, as long as you are safe. I have been shooting in these areas for over 20 years. Times do change... we could loose the Springs in the near future.
