1st timer for elk. Heading out for a week on the sixteenth. If anybody's ever hunted or knows the area, some tips will be much appreciated. I know the area as I've fished and camped for years in Bishop just don't know about the elk. Done my research wish me luck.

The prime Tule elk area in the valley is the alfalfa fields right off 395 just below Big Pine, but I don't think that's in your hunt zone. I have heard of some public land just north of Lone Pine, down along the Owens River, where the elk hang out. Good luck and post pics.

I spent four days there. 1 day spent with wife in town and looking for a quiver (forgot mine at home lol). 2 days scouting/searching.1/2 day waiting for the correct wind and half day hunting with a good stalk. Could of easily taken the Bull at 45 yards if i would've had a tag. That bull will be taken next week by the tag holder as it's the only decent one for the lone pine zone that I've seen. Keep you posted if I can make it back out hopefully.
