Lone Star Outdoor News Looks At Costs That Have Anglers and Guides Reeling

6/13/08

DALLAS-Fuel costs have fishermen and guides reeling. The June 13 issue of Lone Star Outdoor News, available for downloading Friday at www.lonestaroutdoornews.com, examines how some coastal anglers are coping by downsizing their motors and their boats. Some guides are adapting too, taking shorter runs, trailering boats nearer to favorite spots, and even sleeping in their trucks to avoid raising prices. But buyers of high-end, expensive fly rods aren't listening to economic forecasts - sales are better than ever.

The battle with the Texas feral hog population continues, and officials have a new weapon - the pig pill. Researchers plan to test the contraceptive capsules in the wild later this year.

Lone Star Outdoor News covers hunting and fishing news across Texas. It brings the most credible and timely information to sportsmen and women two times per month. The print version is 40,000 copies.
