anyone know of any reasonably priced archery hog hunts??? high fenced or not i dont care. i live in modesto. so somewhere within 2 hours would b nice but if anyone with info can help me out i would appreciate it!!!!
I would try Hoss Hog Hunting (hosshoghunting.com). It is fenced, but it is a nice operation. The thing is, you may need at least 4 hunters in your party.. I would call and check. However, I am sure if you needed to fill up your hunting party you could post openings here on Jesse's and get takers right away.
Another place that I really liked was Hillside hog Haven in Sonoma. It is one on one, you with the guide and it is archery only. You stay in a nice cabin, with kitchen, bath, etc.. Fair Chase. The guide will walk your arse off!!! Be in good shape.
I have hunted JCA, and it was so so. If you go avoid the "steel building" stand at all costs! The fail force wind comes over that area like a freakin banshee. Got a bad case of poison oak there so it rubbed me the wrong way. Fenced operation.
HogsWild is another fenced operation (with a non-fenced area as well). I have heard it has really gone downhill, but I got a super nice boar there about 5 years ago.
Burroughs ranch in Red Bluff is decent. Nice cabin and the owner feeds you a gut busting breakfast and dinner. I seriously gained about 4 pounds that weekend. It is either archery or rifle.
...all of these places are at or about $500. This is becoming the common price range.
My good buddy has been to JCA 3 times in the past he shot a small boar under 100 lbs the first time and shot rams the other two times. He says the pig hunting is poor and the rams and goats are the majority of animals up there. He went to Hoss hog's with me and said he would never go back to JCA again. I've been to Hoss and would highly recommend them. I shot a nice boar there.
Theres a new place just opened up right in Patterson in the foot hills. Dont know much about it yet and there is no website yet. I spoke to the owner for a minute here in Tracy one day and its a two day hunt for $550 and they set you up in tree stands or spot and stalk. Thats all the info I have so far but I looking to get a group together when the weather cools down and check it out
Gonna give him a call and see how many hunters he allows on the ranch at once. Since he is new I will see if I get him a max hunter group if he will work out a deal. Worst he could say is no but he is just starting out and he needs hunters to get the word out. I will keep you guys informed and maybe we can book something and give him a try
Scott you dont need to even ask your already in! I will have four guys for sure you included and depending on the number of hunters allowed and size property it is I will find a couple more on here
