Hi All, I am looking for a guided hog hunt in central CA, but don't know who to go with. I found the list of guides on the hog page here, but don't know really where to start on the list...

I am looking for a spot & stock or ambush hunt. Nothing agaist dogs, just not for me.

I would like to pay +/- 600 dollars for the hunt.

I don't want a trophy, just a hog. (150 lbs would be awesome!)

I know it is hunting, but I since I am spending that much, I would like to hunt with a guide that knows their stuff and can put me on a hog.

Can any of you point me in the right direction? Any of you have personal expericence with guides? Reccommend any? Thanks!!!

Another vote for Frank (Mustang Guide Service). I have hunted with Tom & Crew and no doubt, he worked VERY hard for our group. I still like Frank and the ranches he hunts. I am searching around for another hunt myself, I'm not sure who I am gonna use this time around. I found another outfitter about 3 hours from my house, vs the 7 hour drive to King City. If distance/fuel wasnt an issue, I would make the drive. I think I just wanna stay a little closer to home this time. Frank is charging $500 these days and that's one of the best prices you are gonna find in the state. DON'T GO WITH A OUTFITTER WHO CHARGES TROPHY FEE'S!!!!! Thats the biggest Crock of S$!#!!! Tom or Frank wont rip you off and they both are fine guides. Have fun and post up with your report.

Again I will highly recommend David Rossi. He owns a 5,000 acre cattle ranch east of San Ardo and has a ton of pigs. $500 for a 2.5 day hunt. If you want a meat pig instead of a trophy, he'll find you one. Archery hunts are $400. A buddy of mine was up there a few weeks ago and said they saw plenty of hogs every day.
