Looking for good pig hunt

Was planing on Tejon Ranch, but that probably wont happen. Looking for something in the lines of the Tejon Pig Management hunt. Would like a 2-3 day, and would like to camp ( stay in my trailer ). Any ideas would be appreciated.

My son was so excited to go there so i have to come up with something else that i can afford.

Fort hunters ligget but its not the same as tejon its open only on weekends and holidays. Its not a ranch it is a military base open to the public for hunting on weekends check out some of the posts on the pig hunting section

I don't know where you live, but if you are close to San Diego area, you might wanna take a look at Big Horn Canyon Ranch. I've never been there personally, but some people said hunting over there is like shooting a farmed animal; on the other hand, you might have some great time with your family. Try liggett, they got a shin dig going on presidents day weekend. Ill be hauling my little pop up trailer and staying in the camp ground. It will be my sons and i first time up their. looking forward to it, though it mite be a little crowded.

I wouldn't hunt big horn ranch for pig its like shooting a farm pig and I wouldn't call that hunting. How I said fort hunters ligget would be the best way to go

Fort Hunter ligget is a neat place to hunt. I have chased hogs and deer with my two kids. Its a neat place to hunt. I just would get your hopes up. There are hogs there but just not that many. I have been all over that ranch and just have not seen that many hogs. I have seen one or two hanging in camp but that was not very often.

BHCR is pretty much catering to new archery hunters that need to get experience shooting animals. I'd consider calling Hogs Wild, they run a good fair chase operation. It's $600 though...

I guess the fun is just being their. I fish south of the border alot and ive made trips their and not catch much of anything but it sure is fun for the hole family. Im pretty new to the whole hunting thing and this will be my first trip out with my son to liggett and as well as hunting, so it will be fun any way you look at it. It would be great though to get a pig or two!!

Not sure Big Horn Ranch is what were lookinig for. I have looked into Hogs Wild, but at $600 each that is out of my budget right now. Tejon was going to cost me $700 for both of us. Thought that was a very good deal.

fhl is $25 for the yearly hunting pass. $10 a night for camping or 47 for a room with twin beds, but you arent guaranteed quite honestly I love the place lots of wild life there to hunt. The general hunting pass is $100

BHCR is not hunting as much as shooting groceries but it's affordable at $350. and the choice of critters is vast. It's a good way to learn about entry/exit points when using archery and a solid lesson for newbies....something gun hunters need not worry so much about. If trying to break a young kid into hunting it may not be so bad but for most it is farm animal assassination. Not condemning it, heck...if I decide to shoot a ram I might go there for the quality meat and a full curl euro mount.

I sent you a PM with my phone #, give me a call. There are a variety of options/costs from FHL, semi-do it yourself at Hesperia resort up to places like Hogs wild (far away) or Jack Ranch or even more high end places. Also there are places that may cut you slack on the second hog for you "junior" son.

Went to BHCR last weekend, taking a first timer out, showed him some of the basics, taught him to shoot a rifle. Its a great place for newbies....now he is hooked.

If it's in your budget take a look at Pancho Rico Creek Ranch in Southern Monterey County. Rustic camping on the ranch and LOTS of hogs. David and Kathy Rossi are great people and offer an outstanding opportunity to take a hog....or 2...or 3. $500 each for rifle and $400 each for archery. If you can shoot a broadside hog at 150 yards or so you will be successful.
