Hi everybody! Been reading alot of the topics here and gleening some information, lots of good advice.

I'm a Nikon 35 SLR diehard, but have been waiting for the kinks in digital to get ironed out and the prices to drop before getting my feet wet with a new camera.

I'm looking at buying an Oly C-730 or C-740. The main feature I like is the 10x lens. I do alot of wildlife photography with my Nikkor 400 3.5, so this would be somewhat comparable with my SLR equipment (which I still plan on using).

What is the difference between the Oly 730 and 740? They both are listed with a 10X zoom and 3.2 mp. Is the 740 just an updated version?

Any advice on memory cards, batteries, etc., would be greatly appreciated. If somebody has a better camera suggestion also, I'll take all the help you can offer!

Thanks! "digital dummy" , treekiller

I agree, dpreview is good, and so is steve's digicams. Go to the forums on both those places and see what people are saying. If you're used to Nikon equipment andNikkor lenses, you need to look closely at the images produced by various cameras. I've read that the C740, along with other 10x digital lenses, seems to produce a purplish tinge around objects at high zoom. I've seen this tinge on my own Oly C3000. Just make sure you're aware of what kind of image you'll get. Also, note that some people saya that a digital image should be "soft" right out of the camera, and that you should plan on sharpening it and otherwise editing it. Different cameras produce different types of images. It's a whole new world. Those forums have lots of intersting info on them.
