At church this morning.......my buddy who was the former owner of that Houston, Tx ranch with wild hogs galore..........sidled up to me as the service was closing and whispered that as soon as the service was over......he was going home and pack up his bag and drive to Houston.........immediately!!! The new owner's just recently has allowed my friend's good buddy to live at the ranch and take care of the ranch(the new owners are absentee owners themselves and don't care about hunting). Sooooooo........the new caretaker already moved in and has started trapping for hogs. He called up my friend here in L.A. and told him that there is a 300 lb. hog caught in the corral/trap. My friend said.."don't kill it yet..wait for me and I will drive over there and kill and butcher it for fresh wild hog meat to bring back to L.A.". He is driving back to L.A. on Saturday and I told him......let me wangle a 3 day vacation at work and I will fly to Houston on Wednesday and hunt and drive back with you on Saturday. So.....hope my boss is in a good mood when I pop this "no notice" 3 day vacation request on him.

I just got a call from my friend who is in Houston until this Saturday................well it happens that it is white tail deer-open season in that Fort Bend County and the neighboring ranches have leased their properties for deer hunting and last night my friend went up in the treestand and he said there is too much hunting activity in the neighboring ranches that the hogs are getting spooked............so he suggested I cancel my trip and we will go together after deer season is over...........sigh!! Well the Fort Bend white tail deer open season runs until Jan.17, 2010. So.....not until then.

The excitement of hunting out of California lol. I miss it, I wanted to go back to my buddies ranch in Louisiana during Christmas, but my counterpart wants to go to San Francisco :-/... I keep telling her it's tradition for me to go there during Christmas and buck hunt, but she's not having any of it. I miss hunting out of state :(.
