Hello - my father and I drew the 301 antler less tag this year and so far, all the research I've done(1 day), this hunt seems to be in some difficult and rugged terrain. My father has some recent health issues that will limit his mobility and we will not have the ability to hike into the wilderness this year. Is there anyone that can provide some feedback on the chances of getting into elk without needing to hike and get away from the roads? If we're not able to get into some elk that are closish to some of the roads I would rather save our points, decline the tag and let someone else get a chance.

Thanks for the help,
Terry

Terry, the Marble Mountains elk hunt is likely the most physically demanding elk hunt in the state. To kill one near a road while driving around would be pure luck. The only easy hunt is at grizzly island.

Unless you're in great shape and a hard core backpack type, most hunters do Marble Mountain with horses. There are outfitters that will do drop camp or full guided hunts in the wilderness. If you can afford it, might be the way to go with your dad. Good luck.
