MARLENE “MO” BROWN NAMED EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF WILDLIFE HERITAGE FOUNDATION

WGFD, Contact: Mo Brown (307) 777-4693

11/22/02

CHEYENNE - The Wildlife Heritage Foundation of Wyoming board of directors has formally named Marlene “Mo” Brown its executive director. Brown had previously been acting in that capacity while serving as the liaison between the Foundation and the Game and Fish Department.

As executive director, Brown is responsible for providing strategic direction and management for the Foundation. The Foundation is a nonprofit corporation whose purpose as an independent, charitable organization is to provide financial support, through philanthropy, to critical wildlife conservation efforts in Wyoming.

“The end of 2002 will mark the close of the Foundation’s inaugural year,” said Brown, “and we’ve had a great start thanks to the generosity of Wyoming’s citizens and our many wildlife conservation-minded friends nationwide.

“I'm excited about working with this dedicated Foundation board of directors to promote the conservation and stewardship of Wyoming’s rich wildlife resources.”

Before joining the Foundation, Brown served as a workforce development management analyst, and prior to that she was vice president of Key Bank of Wyoming’s Private Banking. A graduate of Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Mont., she also completed the National Graduate Trust School at Evanston, Ill. and attained the Certified Trust and Financial Advisor designation. Brown is currently pursuing a master of arts in the humanities. A native of Montana, she lives in Cheyenne with her husband, Phil, and their son, Jesse.

Foundation Chairman John Smithbaker said the board of directors is looking forward to a great year in 2003. “We are pleased that Brown accepted the position of executive director, and now that our organizational year is behind us, we can begin to concentrate more on the task at hand -- creating an enduring natural legacy for future generations through stewardship of all Wyoming’s wildlife,” he said.

In 2002, the Wildlife Heritage Foundation funded projects totaling $40,000 and set aside $100,000 to begin a General Endowment to address Wyoming wildlife concerns in perpetuity. or more information about the Foundation, you can contact Brown at wildlifeheritage@wyoming.com or (307) 777-4693.
