Iv never heard of a cap. I wish they did have one. The younger generations weren't even hunting when the points started. Now they will never have a chance at CA elk or antelope.

I've done a bit of reading through the regs over the years and I've never seen anything about a cap. But I could be wrong. Maybe one the the CDFW guys can weigh in on this.

There is no cap on max points. Also as far as the newer generation I don't think they have anything to worry about. They now have plenty of jr only tags, there are random tags for every species heck my tuly bull and lope tags have all been drawn on the random

Montana has a good sysstem for sheep: there is a cap for points but every year you put it in after youve reached your cap they divide youre percentage in half then add that to your odds. Meaning if after cap points you have something like %1 chance of being drawn then after youve reached cap points you have %1.5 (I used one percent for sake of argument the percentage is far less)

Yea that's what I thought, I missed one year so I'm one short, but my friend said he passed on purpose after talking to someone at dfg that told him 13 is the cap and I said "sorry bad info", it sucks when people in the office don't have the correct answers.

I'm not against a cap for once in a lifetime tags, i.e., Sheep, Elk, Antelope, but I think there is enough mobility with the deer draw so that it appears to be fair and working.
