So, if anyone is like me out there who wants to maximize their finds, this might be helpful. I have spent the past 5/6 years looking for sheds. I can not tell you how many miles I have walked looking for them, but as we all know, we won't find them all. So, I came up with an idea. Last weekend, I walked around our property looking for old fence lines left over from when my great grandfather used the same property for cows. Well, since the fence posts were loose due to age, i pulled them where the fence was at a 45 degree angle. Then, I poured corn at the base of the fence where when deer go for the corn, there heads will bump along the fence to get to the corn. I am going to keep these areas (about 5 of them) full of corn over the next few weeks (thru march) and see how it works out. I will keep y'all posted. Maybe some of you can also try it out...see if any of us have any luck!! Good luck with the shed season in general!

baiting for sheds....thats pretty sad. Let the fence get caught in their antlers. Crazy. What is the world coming to....

I have read somewhere that people use a bucket/tripod feeder with a little bit of twine arranged in a fence above the feeder. If you use wire it may become entangled in a rack that wasn't ready to be shed.Maybe a type of wool or cotton would be better. That way if it wasn't ready to be shed, the buck could brake free.I'd personaly be looking for where the bucks hang after the rut. They are allways togeather then.I see anywhere between 150 to 200 bucks a year. But their are certainly never 300/400 sheds in the paddock. The poor buggers have enough trouble with the fences where i hunt.Without me making more.

The idea is their.We need a non harmfull,enviromentaly sound,shed collecting device....And hear i am

Like I said, these fences are +/- 50 years old and are really loose. I tried pulling on one before I even started to see how much tension it would take before the wires would let loose. Since the wood is rotten, it wont take much. I wouldn't be surprised if when I go to check, the wires are ripped out just from bumping it.

This isn't really a new idea, there's a video on the net somewhere of one of those commercial antler traps in action, you actually see the antler of a small buck pop off when it hits the bungee cords on a bucket full of food. I haven't ever tried anything like it myself though.

I read thay if you put out a 5 gallon bucket of corn when the bucks feed the antlers will pop off.

IT WORKED!!!

IN THE FIELD:
(This particular spot was different than the rest in the sense that it was a newer fense line. It seems that it worked none-the-less)!!!

Would plastic snow-fencing work? Seems a deer could pull out of it if the antlers weren't ready to drop yet.

Thanks. I've noticed the setup is a little high, and have since modified it to be a little lower.
