WEST ALTON, Mo. -- Three decades of lake sturgeon restoration efforts by the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) came to fruition recently when MDC Fisheries staff confirmed that the nearly extinct fish are once again naturally reproducing in the Mississippi River near St. Louis.
