SOUTHEASTERN LP

Lake St. Clair
Perch and bluegills are hitting in Lake St. Clair, with good action being reported by anglers fishing near the Coast Guard station off 10 Mile Road, off the 400 Club Apartments, and at 15 Mile Road. Walleye fishing has been slow. In Anchor Bay, the perch bite has been pretty good at the Venetian Canal and off Cotton Road.

Monroe Area
Walleye anglers fishing with minnows report a fair bite in Lake Erie’s Brest Bay. Good numbers of perch are being caught on minnows and wigglers at the Banana Dike. Steelhead fishing has been fair on the Huron River.

SOUTHWESTERN LP

St. Joseph Area
Steelhead and walleye fishing are picking up on the St. Joseph River. Anglers are reporting fair results at Berrien Springs. A few suckers are starting to show up, and several nice browns have been reported near the I-94 ramp.

Kalamazoo Area
Fishing has picked up a little around Kalamazoo with the arrival of warmer weather. Pike are hitting suckers and chubs on Asylum Lake. Bluegills are hitting wax worms on Sugar Loaf, Cedar, and Saddleback, and some anglers are reporting limit catches. Rabbit hunting also has improved.

CENTRAL LP

Saginaw Bay Area
Walleye anglers report a good bite on Saginaw Bay at Linwood about 3 to 4 miles out, off Bay City State Park, and at Spoils Island. A few perch also are hitting at Spoils Island. Anglers fishing with jig-and-minnow combos report pretty good walleye action at the Hot Ponds. Anglers fishing on the Saginaw River are reporting hit-or-miss success. The best action is coming on jigging spoons. Rabbit and coyote hunting have been pretty good.

Muskegon Area
Walleye and perch fishing have been fair on Muskegon Lake, with minnows producing the best results. A few pike also are being caught. Browns and steelhead are keeping anglers busy on the Muskegon River. Anglers drifting spawn and wigglers under slip bobbers report the best success.

Caseville Area
Perch are hitting in Lake Huron off Mud Creek and at Bayport. The best action is coming in 3 to 6 feet of water on minnows and wax worms. Walleye fishing remains slow. Coyote hunting has been pretty good.

Port Huron
A few browns are hitting in Lake Huron at Lexington and Port Sanilac, but the action has been fair at best. Browns also are hitting in the St. Clair River with emerald shiners producing the best results. Anglers are cautioned to watch out for heavy ice floes. Coyote hunters are enjoying good success.

NORTHWESTERN LP
Kalkaska Area
Steelhead are hitting on the Elk River at the dam in Elk Rapids and at Tippy Dam on the Manistee River. Wax worms, wigglers, and spawn are all taking fish. A fair number of crappies and pike are keeping anglers interested on Crawford Lake, and decent walleye fishing is being reported on Fife Lake. Coyote hunting has been decent but rabbit hunting has been slow.

Pike fishing has been good on Houghton Lake. Tip-ups and jigging spoons both have been productive. Panfish action has been slow, but should improve now that warmer weather is arriving. A few walleyes are hitting in East Bay and along the north shore.

NORTHEASTERN LP

Hubbard Lake
Heavy snow and slush has hampered access to Hubbard Lake. Anglers venturing out on snowmobiles are catching walleyes in 45 to 50 feet of water along the south and west shores. Perch are hitting in 15 to 18 feet of water at the south end of the lake and off the mouth of the West Branch River. Rabbit hunting has been difficult with heavy snow hampering access.

Oscoda Area
Steelhead fishing is picking up on the Au Sable River. Perch also are turning on, and anglers are taking good numbers of fish in 14 to 16 feet of water on Van Etten Lake. A few walleyes are hitting on Van Etten and Cedar lakes. Coyote hunting has been very good.

Upper Peninsula

EASTERN UP

Newberry Area
Perch fishing is picking up on Hulbert and Round lakes and should improve as warmer weather arrives. Predator hunting has been pretty good. Snowshoe hunting has been decent.

Perch are keeping ice anglers satisfied at Cedarville. Anglers fishing on Muskie Bay report good success. Minnows, wax worms and wigglers are all taking fish. A few splake are being caught, but not in large numbers. Rabbit hunting has been slow, with heavy snow limiting hunter access.

Fishing has been excellent in the Pickford area. Northern pike have moved into Munuscong Bay, and anglers are jigging and setting tip-ups with good success. Rabbit and predator hunting has been slow.

Curtis Area
Heavy snow and slush is limiting access to Big and South Manistique Lakes. A few anglers are walking out and reporting a fair perch bite on Big Manistique. Rabbit and predator hunting has been slow.

A fair number of whitefish are keeping anglers busy on Lake Michigan’s Little Bay de Noc. The best action is coming in 20 to 30 feet of water. Perch fishing has been slow. An occasional whitefish is being hooked.

WESTERN UP

Bergland Area
Perch fishing is picking up on Lake Gogebic, but overall action remains slow. The best action is coming in deeper water near the mud flats. Wigglers have been the bait of choice.

Houghton Area
Fishing has been pretty good at Houghton. A fair number of coho are hitting in Lake Superior, although most are smaller fish. An occasional whitefish or herring also is being caught. Smelt anglers are taking good numbers of fish at night. The best reports are coming from anglers fishing for suspended fish in 35 to 40 feet of water at Baraga. Inland lake access is still difficult with areas of unsafe ice and slush. Deep snow is slowing predator hunting.
