Someone asked that question a while ago. Not sure, but I will share this...all summer I saw lots of squirrels and chipmunks around 6000 ft ele...truckee area, right before, well late summer lots of feeding...right before the forecast "storm of the year" that wasn't was as big as billed to be, the woods went quiet. I think they go underground to partially hibernate. Yes I still hear them, but far and few, a lot less than before. I know the marmots do the same on donner summit, gone for winter, squirrel family...thats all for now, it's snowing and it's hot tub time:mooning:

Yep watched a yote cruising the edge of the golf course sniffing and listening to the squirrel holes, too bad not a place where hunting would be ok
