Minolta Maxxum 5 Camera

I recently bought a Minolta Maxxum 5 Camera and was wondering if anyone out there has any feedback about this camera. This is my first "real" camera and previous to this I was using a pentax point and shoot type cam. I got a 35-80mm lens and am going to get a 75-300mm lens soon. Any tips or suggestions towards use would be appreciated. Thanks.

I am planning on using it for a multi purpose camera. Am going to go out and try to get some good pictures as some animals up here (Alaska) as well as scenery pictures. Just got sick of my old point and shoot pics looking so bad. I also want to try to get some pics of the Aurora with it.
