Guys,
just saw this article on the missing elk hunter in Colorado, dont know if any of you are close enough to lend a hand or not, if not you can pray for this man and his family, here is the link to the story and there is more info posted on Monster Muleys forums.

I hope this url will work, if not, it is on the Monster Muley forum, elk hunting, normally i would never mention another hunting forum on here, but i believe this cause is worthy.

Bad news.....

Lightning strike may have killed hunter

Staff Report

NUCLA — A search for missing Washington hunter Robert Heichel turned tragic Wednesday afternoon, when searchers found his body in a sage-choked canyon area between 2 and 3 p.m.

Preliminary reports from the scene indicated Heichel, 40, died a natural death after having been struck by lightning. He had apparently been missing since Thursday, Sept. 7 and was reported overdue Sunday. A massive search that included family members and rescue teams from Washington was mounted.

For full story see this site or tomorrow's Daily Press.

Wow, that's bad. I was cruising through the forums checking for an update on this guy to find this. Almost happened to me a couple weeks ago in AZ. Got caught on top of a small mountain in a bad lighting storm. Came up so fast, didn't have time to get down. First lighting strike of the storm was a hill just a mile away. Third strike of the storm hit he hill I was on. Decided to ditch my gun and all my other metal under a juniper and hide myself under a little rock ledge on top of the mountain. Did not think I was making it out of that one. Closest lighting strike, 25 yards away, where I ditched my gun and other metals. Nearly 45 minutes later I was very thankful to be hoofing it down the mountain in one piece.

A couple good reminders to give lighting every bit of respect it deserves.
