Modocer wanted me to post that he killed his first elk on Sunday!!! He and my father have been in NW Colorado since last Thursday and after seeing about 80-90 elk, he was successful and killed a 3x4, that weighed about 650-700 lbs. As I understand it, he would have been a 4x4, but the bull broke off one of the brow tines earlier this year. He is so excited. My dad said that he was/is floating about 10 feet off the ground. I'm happy that my father got to be with my husband when he killed his first elk - that means a lot to me! I guess God knew that my husband was going to get an elk and that is why He didn't provide us with a deer this year - we have more meat than we need now!!

When they get back, Modocer will post the full story and pictures!!

I'm proud of you, husband!!

My husband just called me here at work to let me know that my Dad got his elk just now!!!! Yeah!!! They're bringing home 2 animals!! Dad's elk is a 2x5. The bull apparently broke off 2 brow tines on the 2 side. Way to go Dad!!

Modocer,

Congratulations!! I couldn't remember exactly when your hunt was, but I knew it was soon. I'm really looking forward to seeing pictures. Did you use your '06? If so, let us know the specifics and how it performed. I don't know if your father-in-law got a deer this year, but an antelope and an elk is quite a good year. Please extend my congratulations to him as well.
