I saw a badger in Santa Clarita while bowhunting for deer this last fall. It was the first I ever seen (or heard of) this far south. Yesterday, another one waddled across the road near the house. For all I know, it could have been the same one but it would be nice to have a huntable population of them this far south.

I've seen two (or the same one twice) here near Lake Mathews. I'm a good bit south of Santa Clarita (aren't I?... checking map). Yeah, further south.

This website: http://www.cnlm.org/lakemat.html has some info on the flora and fauna of the Estelle Mtn Reserve area and says:

It has been reported that the area supports mountain lion (Felis concolor) and the American badger (Taxidea taxus), although these reports wait to be substantiated.

I live just east (a mile or three) of the Estelle Mtn Reserve.
