Mountain home / balch park

Planning this archery season to maybe camp at Balch Park since it's a very quick hike into mountain home national Forest where you can hunt during archery season should be early season anybody have any luck in this area? Thinking of doing a couple trips during archery season and spending two or three nights up there looks pretty cool and I can fish at the park when I'm not hunting. Any thoughts on bears being this close to campsites or do you think I'd be better off driving further in.
