I was going to sleep but couldn't resist when I saw the news. What a great way to spend our tax dollars. "A large number of officers were sent to sweep through the area" for several hours. When will they ever learn. It would've cost them nothing to hire a bunch of guys from JHO

Mountain Lion Spotted Near 210 Freeway In Sunland

(CBS) SUNLAND, Calif. Portions of the Foothill (210) Freeway and nearby streets were closed in Sunland Wednesday evening as authorities hunted for a mountain lion.

Just before 5 p.m., police received a report of someone seeing a mountain lion at Fenwick Street and Sunland Boulevard, said Officer Jason Lee of the Los Angeles Police Department.

A police helicopter was searching the area and the state Department of Fish and Game was called to help deal with the situation, Lee said.

The California Highway Patrol closed portions of the Foothill (210) Freeway at La Tuna Canyon Road and the off-ramp at Sunland Boulevard, according to reports.

The animal was not immediately spotted a second time, but animal experts on the scene spotted its tracks.

A large number of officers were sent to sweep through the area.

The streets, including Sunland Boulevard, were expected to be closed for several hours, Lee said.[/b]
