Our Blacktail Deer out west trail close-in to brush, so I needed a wide angle PIR on a swivel mount. Luckily, I found a whole shelf full of the original Regent MS20's (Bronze Color) at Wal*mart. These Regent Light Assemblies will mount on the front of a 7.62mm ammo can to make a very-very low cost Trail Cam that is rugged, and can be secured with a lock & cable. My Owl PF is sitting on a short piece of Mendocino Redwood 2 X 4 that is cut to length for a 6 volt lantern battery to sit behind the Regent Lighting Assembly. (Simple to make)

Nice job Richard. I see you've finally made the switch to the MS20? Can we consider you on the MS20 fence now

Just kiddin all you RS PIR users - this all goes back to Tinhorn's analytical comparison! :rw

Seriously - It looks like a nice unit that should serve you well.

gizz - Jon's Mini Cam with with RS 49-425 is a sweet little trail cam, but the total cost is up around $100.00 without a timer. I'm trying to survive on a retirement income (once-a-month), so towards the end of the month I can use the Ritz Owl PF (without date) for $39.99 in the above setup for a total cost down around $55.00

Have you figured the total cost of your latest cam without battery?

I never really kept too much track of it but I think I can nail it down. Here goes:
Owl/PF/Date - $50 (Wal-Mart, when they had them)
MS20 - $9 (Wal-Mart).
PVC Box - $11 (Lowes)
RS Relay - $3
Switches - $5 (2 of them but i don't remember price)
LED - $3
Miscl stuff (wires,silicone,solder,glue, etc) - $5
Total = $86
Add a $7.50 12v 1.2Amp gel and the total is $93.50.

I always guessed about $100 so I guess I'm just about right on. I forgot the timer board so I guess I'd be just about a $100 even.

Umm, my next cam is gonna be about $20 less than that. I just snagged an owl PF /date on ebay for $29.99 (well $36 w/shipping but no tax).
