2010 Tule Bull Elk, T/C encore 50 cal. 250 gr. Barnes TMZ Muzzeloader. I shot this bull on saturday morning FHL Muzzeloader tag. spotted him with 50 cows & 2 spikes in the group @ 7:15 am opening morning. We were hunting area 25 in the flats and they were about 800 yds out when i spotted them. We put a sneak on them and got in front of the group. I was in some trees and they walked up on me with me crouching begind a tree. The bull came through the trees and stopped, i ranged him at 86 yds. and took the shot. when i pulled the trigger the bull dropped his ass and almost hit the ground but spun around and took off. I know i was dead nuts behind his shoulder. I reloaded and gave him 10 min. we searched but could not find any blood or nothing. I took off for a plateu to try and spot the herd which i did, and the bull was still following the herd. We regrouped and took off after them and they gave us the slip. I headed up into the hills and found them once again only to have a couple of opportunities to shoot the bull but he was surrounded by the cows and i didn't shoot for fear of wounding or killing a cow by accident. I finally on the 4th stock got the bull as he was heading out of a canyon, he was walking and i could not get him to stop even with a cow call. He was ranged at 168 yds i put it on his neck and squeezed off a shot. The 250 gr. barnes bullet hit him exactyl in the neck and punched through the opposite shoulder. we found him on the opposite side of the ridge maybe 35 yds from where i hit him!. Upon skinning the bull i found i had hit the bull with my first shot rite behind the shoulder but a little low where the heart would be. It took out a part of one lung and lodgedon the opposite side of the shoulder. My second shot hit him in the neck and went throught the shoulder and lodged under the skin. i have both bullets and will post pics of them at a later date. Awesome hunt and it was over before it started. They are some tuff animals for sure!
