This was my first muzzleloader bull elk hunt. I spent lots of time on the range with my Winchester X-150 in .50 cal. The bullet I chose to use was the Powerbelt 348 AT, with 90grs of Pyrodex pellets. When we arrived at our camp spot we got setup and then it began to rain, the next morning it began to snow and continued all day. We hunted hard everyday and with bad weather for 4 days straight and on the 4th day of the hunt I took this spike bull at 80 yds. The Powerbelt made a complete pass through between the 3rd and 4th ribs taking out the lungs. The animal ran about 20 yds before he crashed and it was over
He dressed out at 276 lbs on the hook. It was a long day as we had to cut him up into 6 pieces and haul him off the mountain. Looking forward to my next muzzloader hunt
