My best day shed hunting

I found went walking the hills right after christmas and found these sheds. I also saw alot of bucks and watched a 30" 5X5 for 2 hours.

This is how I found the 3-point skull

I have shed Huntd but on a Limited basis here in Northern Ohio, Rodents usually get them pretty fast... I am gonna give it a try this year, Hopefully I find some.Looks like many hours of searching.

Yeah I hiked the hills for 9 hrs that day finding the sheds. It's a natural high for me,once I find one I get really excited and the search for more is on. Good luck shed hunting this year.

Buck Snort-not bad for only a days worth of walking.I know that
feeling when you find one, you just wanna keep going.

Are they mule deer or whitetail sheds or some of both?
The season is just starting here.Hoping to go out saturday.

I took some when I first saw him but he was about 300 yards away so the picture turned out really crappy. I did put about a 45 minute stalk on him and got to within 45 yards and I had one last scrub oak between us and when I looked under the brush I could see his legs,and when I peeked over it I could see his rack.I waited behind the bush for about 5 minutes,then I started to get worried that the wind would shift so I tried to sneak around the bush when I stepped on a twig.You know how that goes......

He herd that then dove off the hill. I was so close to getting good pictures. It was crazy to be that close to a huge buck like that.

Is there a certain type of terain where ca muleys dump there antlers or just start searching where you saw them in the hunting season. When do you start looking for them, I was thinking maybe another 6 weeks.

This is why I have not decided yet on a digital camera or video camera. I know we have talked in a different forum. With a 20x (optical) video camcorder you could have filmed that buck & then taken still shots off your film. Also with the video camera you can film all the way till it's dark, when you can't with the camera. What do you think??

Prohunter,your right about the higher optical zoom on the camcorder,but every picture I have seen that was extracted from dideo looked like crap. I don't know if this is the case with the new digital camcorders though. It sounds like you are having a hard time making the decision between the still camera and the video camera. Usually when I'm hunting I'm with my bro or a good buddy of mine (both have video camera's) this is nice cause we have the option of using both,but I will tell you what,it seems like most of the time we enjoy my still photo's more than the video.

But then again there are times when you would really really really want the video camera. last year my bro and I stalked a nice forky in D-7 and I made an awesome 300 yard shot on him and he never got out of his bed, and my bro got it all on video.

We did the same thing in UT last year.We made an awesome stalk on a cow elk and I droped her from about 300 yards,and he got the whole thing on video. Some times the video is the only way to go,it's just a decision you have to make,and eventually you will probably end up getting both.

If you decide to go with the camcorder you should look into the ones that take still photo's also....Just a thought.

It all depends where you are at.In my neck of the woods the deer have summer and winter range,I find all my sheds in the winter range.Just like hunting you can study topo maps to find likely areas to find sheds.

That's more than I've found total, lol. Nice sheds too! I don't go out specifically looking for them, I just stumble across then while turkey/deer hunting. That 3 point's a muley?
