The only good thing about this cold winter is that the river is frozen over in most places - wheres there's open water- you'll find the eagles.
These are my best shots to date..

This is a banded one too - has a gray band and a blue band - from what I was told one is federal and one is state. Any falconers out there that can shed some light on this?

Dave, thanks for posting. You get some great captures! I've been trying to get on a couple of Redtails on my property for the last week or so, and they are having NONE of it! They are very wary of my presence and always bail quickly after seeing me. The only chance I've had was while driving up my driveway, one was sitting on a branch of a tree only about 30 yards away. i watched him for a full minute, but did not have the camera in my truck(for once) . DOH! Oh well, thanks for inspiring me to get some shots of these awesome birds, Frank.
