Howdy,
For some reason my D-380 takes horrible daytime pics. The colors are wierd and there is way too much light. I opened it up for mods. Maybe I lost the IR filter if it is possible. Thanks,

Buddy

I sometimes carry my D-380 in my fanny pack to take pictures. I have not converted it over for a trail cam yet. For an inexpensive 2mp camera it does pretty good. I have attached a couple of photos for comparison purposes.

All of these pictures were taken with the D-380.

This test pic was takin at 12:00noon on a 8/10 bright day. I have done no modifications to the picture other than resizing it.

Thanks,

Buddy

You do have a problem, I would send the camera back to Olympus for repairs. I have heard their customer service was very good.

The IR filter sits between the CCD (image sensor) and the bottom of the lens assembly.

Would you have to try to take it out in order to get it out? Or is it loose?

Thanks,

Buddy

The IR filter just looks like a small piece of glass with a blueish tint, I think you would notice if it fell out. There isn't really anything that holds it in there, it just kinda sits in a pocket. You have to remove the black lens assembly in order for the IR filter to be removed. How far did you take it apart?

I pulled the back cover off, and pulled the board about 1/2 inch off. And screwed it back up and did the mods. and put the cover back on.

Thanks,

Buddy
