Got my first elk ever on Friday morning! It was an antlerless hunt; I took the lead cow-after my wife had stopped it at 60 yards using the Hoochie Mamma call. I was shooting a 30.06 with Barnes 180 XLC's. One shot put her down for good.

My wife may have been even more thrilled than me! She then helped with the field dressing and quartering-what a woman (good looking, too).

In two weeks we will have 215 pounds of brats, sausage, chorizo and steaks!

That's fantastic...way to go! Anyone who says it's not a hoot to harvest a cow is lying. It may not be a hoot hauling it out, but the bagging part of it is exciting for sure. Plus, good eats.
